Definition: Behaviors and perceptions typical of schizophrenia that seem like something taken away from normal experience. Apathy, lack of motivation, flattened affect and anhedonia are examples of negative symptoms.
Examples: Andy's negative symptoms made it difficult for him to mingle at the reunion, but he was happy to be in the company of his friends.
