Flattened Affect

Definition: A symptom of schizophrenia and some other psychiatric disorders in which the person expresses a very limited range of emotions, even in situations that would normally seem very exciting or very sad.
Also Known As: flat affect
Examples: Ted's sister thought he didn't appreciate her gift, because she misinterpreted Ted's flattened affect.
